Review & Swatches- I ❤ Makeup Explicit Content Palette
Hi everyone!
So I have a new review for you today and I know I haven't posted in a while but I have been quite busy recently. But hopefully this will make up for it.
Shall we just jump right in?
So, I have a review of the I ❤ Makeup (Makeup Revolution brand) Explicit Content Palette.
First thing I want to mention is the packaging because obviously it is the first thing you notice from a product. Personally, I don't like the whole 'Parental Advisory' logo and I never have so that's nothing against the company for that, it's just my personal view. But this is holographic which is really cool. At one angle, it's just the normal logo then if you tilt it down, it goes to this cool paint splat effect which I really love, it makes the palette packaging just that little bit more interesting and it makes it stand out much more.
Now lets move on to the shadows inside which is the main part!
So within this palette, there are 36 shades. On the very left side of the palette, there are 3 brown shades which are matte and I think these would be perfect for doing brows with or to add definition to the crease as they are matte and they gradually get darker which makes it easy to find a shade which suits the look you are going for. The rest are shimmer shades which is perfect for the autumn/winter seasons (but to be honest, I will use this all year round, regardless of shades.)
They are very much on the warmer side with the browns, coppers and bronze shades. The reason I was so drawn to this palette compared to the others is that I don't have colours like this in my collection which makes it much more special. I find that the bronze, gold, brown & cranberry shades really suit blue eyes because it makes the blue pop even more. I love how there is a wide range of shades within the same spectrum of the colour.
Some are much more shimmery than others but I love that because it can make a certain colour pop more if it is highly shimmery. There are some lovely pink tones which are similar to some in the Naked 3 palette from Urban Decay (which I talk about all the time because I love it!) but they really marry well with the cranberry and gold tones in here.
I do think that the blues at the far right side of the palette are not necessary and I know I won't wear them ones so much but the others I can see myself wearing a lot. I've already been playing around with it to create autumn worthy looks. (I will do a post on Autumn looks using this palette for my eyes soon).
Here are a few of the colours swatched. I chose some of my favourite shades which are the 5 on the bottom row. These colours are gorgeous and perfect for autumn. As you can see, they are highly shimmered and very highly pigmented. This is without primer underneath and I didn't get a ton on my finger. They are seriously pigmented which is so incredible because it is easier to get the colour pay off you want. These shadows are even better when they have a primer underneath. I find that these shades are much better and stronger when they are patted in the lid with a flat eyeshadow brush because the colour will come out much more intense.
Overall, I think this palette is seriously incredible! I think this palette would be brilliant for beginners because it is so pigmented, the shades are easy to work with and it is inexpensive. I find this was an investment and I really love having in my collection because the shades are perfect. I know I will be using this a ton and I can't wait to create lots of looks with it.
Let me know what you think of it. Do you have it? Does it look interesting to you?
